What we Believe

Father

We believe that God is holy and wholly good: eternal, infinite, all powerful, all knowing, unchanging and in Him we live, move and have our being. He is our perfect Father; loving, compassionate and faithful to all of His promises.

Matthew 28:19 John 14:10 John 14:16 1 Corinthians 8:6 Ephesians 4:6 Matthew 23:9 Psalm 68:5

Son

We believe that Jesus Christ is God the Son. Completely human. Completely God. In fulfilment of all Law and Prophecy, He is the Messiah, born of a virgin, and the sole plan to bring those far from God back to Himself. Having lived without sin, He defeated death and sin through His death on the cross and His resurrection. He ascended to heaven and is now interceding for us at the right hand of the Father.

Isaiah 7:14 Matthew 1:18-23 John 1:1,14 John 3:16 John 5:26 Colossians 2:9 Philippians 2:6-11 Colossians 1:13-23 Luke 4:17-21 Romans 8:34

Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is God. He guides believers in all truth and exalts Christ. He convicts us of sin and guides us in all righteousness. He comforts us, assures us of our relationship with God, gives us spiritual gifts and empowers us to become more like Jesus.

Joel 2:28-32 John 16:7-15 Matthew 3:16-17 Acts 1:4-8 Acts 2:1-13 Acts 7:55-56 Acts 10:44-48 Galatians 5:22-26 Ephesians 4:1-12 2 Corinthians 1:21-22

The Trinity

We believe that God has eternally existed as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is One Being in Three Persons; each working together in perfect harmony and serving different functions; each possessing equal power, authority and glory.

Isaiah 61:1 Matthew 28:19 Mark 1:9-11 John 14:16 James 2:19 2 Corinthians 13:14

The Bible

We believe that the Bible (Old and New Testaments) is the only inspired Word of God, written by human authors under divine inspiration. It is truth without error and remains completely authoritative and relevant to our lives today.

Deuteronomy 4:1-2 Psalm 119:89, 105 Isaiah 40:8 Romans 15:4 Hebrews 4:12 1 Peter 1:25 Acts 2:42

People

We believe that all people are made in the image of God, created to love and be loved by God. People are created to have fellowship with Him but all have been impacted by sin. No-one can achieve right relationship with God through their own effort. Every person is planned by God, born for purpose and has equal value. In this regard, all people are worthy of our Christian love and respect.

Genesis 1:26-30 Genesis 2:7 Genesis 2:18-22 Colossians 3:9-11 Ephesians 1:4 Ephesians 2:1-7

Salvation

We believe that sin has separated people from God. The only way to salvation and the forgiveness of sin is through the work of Christ’s death on the cross, burial and resurrection. Salvation is the gift of God’s grace for anyone who recognises and receives, by faith, that the death and resurrection of Jesus is the only way to make full payment for our sin and bring us into right relationship with God.

Isaiah 53:5-6 Matthew 1:21 Matthew 27:22-66 John 1:12 John 3:16 Acts 2:21 Ephesians 2:8 Romans 1:16 Romans 3:23 Romans 4:24-25

The Church

We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, with Christ as the head. It advances God’s Kingdom and overcomes the power of Satan. A local church is a community of water-baptised, Spirit-filled believers, who regularly take communion together. Whether gathered together, or living their everyday lives, they are committed to obeying the teachings and commands of Jesus. They seek to live in love and unity; glorifying Christ, influencing society and bringing the Gospel to the world.

Matthew 6:18-19 Acts 2:38 Acts 2:41-47 Acts 16:5 Ephesians 3:10-12 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 1 Corinthians 12:12-14 Romans 12:5 Colossians 1:18

Eternity

We believe that all people are created to exist forever. This will either be in eternal union with God through salvation or eternal separation from God. Eternal union with God is Heaven; eternal separation is Hell.

John 3:16, 36 Romans 6:23 1 John 2:25 1 John 5:11-13 Revelation 20:15

Hope

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ will visibly return in bodily form, as promised, to complete the plan of God. He will raise all people to judgement and establish a new Heaven and new Earth. Our eternal destination, of either Heaven or Hell, is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.
